I posted this song yesterday, but this version is better.
This was taught to me by Dave Brugger. A Piano player of a very high order. We “met” musically somewhere between too many genres to mention. Getting turned on to Tom Waits, was more like, where have I been and wtf have I been listening to?
This song on so many occasions was played at the very end of gigs we performed together. To perform it once again with Dave would be special. May he rest in piece as well.
“I don’t like the Eagles. They’re about as exciting as watching paint dry. Their albums are good for keeping the dust off your turntable and that’s about all.” – Tom Waits New Musical Express June 5, 1976
Could not agree more with Tom Waits. Also liked his observation on Fernwood 2 night:
“I’d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.”
