Rambling, Gambling Band

by thoughtsonthedead

Just as I was wondering about the Dead’s history with Las Vegas, a legendarily straight-laced* town, this article by Mike Weatherford popped up.

It’s a short but thorough read and worth it for the visual of an entire crowd’s worth of tripping Deadheads exiting the theater via the casino, plus some nice information about the Dead’s only pre-80’s gig in the desert city, a one-off March gig in a converted ice skating rink that has maybe the 69-iest set list I’ve ever seen.

*For an astonishingly hypocritical definition of “straight-laced.”
